![]() In our study, ipscs were generated from blood samples of healthy individuals and patients with T2D. ![]() Therefore, in this study, our aim was to generate glucose-responsive pancreatic beta cells from different ipsc lines, including those generated from healthy and of diabetic individuals. While the first clinical trial using hpsc-derived pancreatic progenitors is ongoing for evaluating the safety and efficacy of their therapeutic use in treating T1D, the effort is currently focused on generating functional beta cells in vitro. Induced pluripotent stem cells (ipscs) are a promising alternative autologous source for beta cell replacement therapy, circumventing the hurdles of the donor shortage and immune rejection following allogenic islet transplantation.
